Program Goals
The collaboration within the "Business in Action" program at Northern Illinois University is geared towards distinct learning objectives. Through practical consulting projects, students will apply academic theories to real-world business contexts. Collaborative teamwork in small groups will strengthen communication and problem-solving skills. By addressing genuine organizational challenges, students will develop critical thinking abilities and gain industry insight. This comprehensive approach aims to cultivate project management proficiency, refine analytical capabilities, and foster ethical considerations, all within the framework of an intensive 8-week session.

Northern Illinois University's Business in Action course facilitates student-industry collaboration through hands-on consulting projects. Students form teams of 4-5 to collectively contribute to real organizations across diverse topics. With four project scopes available, multiple teams in each course section collaborate, fostering varied solutions. The course, spanning two 8-week sessions, ensures practical experiential learning and impactful industry engagement.
