| About Students |
Northern Illinois University's Business in Action course provides students with an opportunity to add real value to a real organization through carefully designed student consulting projects that span across various topics and academic disciplines. Students will be split into teams of 4-5 so they can work to support each other throughout the project process. There are four different project scopes for the students to choose from and work on. Each section of Business in Action will have two teams working on each project scope. NOTE: For fall 2022, UBUS 110 is divided into 2 8-week sessions, Fall A (August - October) and Fall B (October - December). The course schedule shown on this page includes both sessions.

Welcome Company for First Client Meeting (Q & A)
Learn about your client! Company members will meet with you and your teammates to share relevant information, challenges, and expectations. Get prepared by gathering baseline organization knowledge (from website, search engines, brochures, etc.) and preparing questions in advance. Do your homework. Don't ask questions with answers that you can easily find online (what are your products & services?). Consultants value client time and ask questions that are carefully preplanned. Make the most of this in-person time with your company. Be prepared!

You still have more research to do. Make the most of this second client meeting by preparing thoughtful questions to guide the conversation. What do you still need to know to make strong recommendations? These are the questions you'll be sure to ask.

| Project Title | Develop A Playbook For Elevating The Brand Of A Non Profit Community Cafe |
| Project Synopsis |
What is the challenge or opportunity you are trying to address within your organization? Analyze a company’s brand, target audience and competitors to recommend a strategy for effectively communicating the company’s brand to current and potential customers.
What are some of the activities or action items you think will need to be taken to achieve your desired results? How can TKT elevate its brand and bring in new customers?
What would make this project a success for your organization? What measurable results are you looking to accomplish? The Kitchen Table (TKT) opened its doors in summer 2016 as a community cafe, where everyone - regardless of their ability to pay - is welcome to enjoy a fabulous home-cooked meal and volunteer to prepare and serve food to others.
