About Students

Northern Illinois University's Business in Action course provides students with an opportunity to add real value to a real organization through carefully designed student consulting projects that span across various topics and academic disciplines. Students will be split into teams of 4-5 so they can work to support each other throughout the project process. There are four different project scopes for the students to choose from and work on. Each section of Business in Action will have two teams working on each project scope.

What is the challenge or opportunity you are trying to address within your organization?

Ultrasonic Power Corporation is looking to you for recommendations on a future-forward marketing strategy! They are looking for suggestions on best channels to reach current and prospective customers, especially as they are expanding their target audience to include segments of the medical industry. They need your assistance in deciding the best tactics for search engine optimization, improving organic rankings, and evaluating strategies for increasing traffic on social media channels. They are also looking for your ideas on the type of media that will improve their organic rankings. A successful project will provide sufficient evidence ( and depth) to move forward with several marketing strategies.
